Basic Victorian Hairstyle

Tools:

• Paddle brush
• Pintail comb
• Sectioning clips
• Hairgrips
• Fine pins
• Hair elastics
• Curling tongs (optional)
• Hairspray
• Heat Protection Spray

Method:

1. Brush all of the hair to make sure there are no knots or tangles.
2. Spritz the hair with heat protection spray if you are using the curling tongs and brush through.
3. Most if not all Victorian hairstyles have a centre parting. So using the pintail comb create a clean centre parting to the crown.
4. Take the hair on either side of the parting and clip these two individual sections up.
5. With the remaining hair, comb it down and neatly secure it all into a pony tail.
6. Depending on the design (I chose a plait bun) Put the rest of the hair into a bun and pin it into place.
7. Unclip the two sections that were made from the parting and depending on the design (I chose to not twist or plait the these sections) Comb the hair down underneath the ears. It's really important  to make sure the ears are sticking through in the most unflattering way possible as this is how they had their hair.
8. Take the ends of these sections and wrap them around the bun and pin into place.
9. Alternatively, you can curl these front sections in ringlet style curls.
10. Spray with hairspray to finish.

Notes:

• You can plait the front sections, just make sure you start the plait from the jawline down. Keep it within the period.
• Optional to curl the front sections in ringlets.
• You can do a twist bun or a plait bun. No modern messy buns.
• Make sure sections are clean.
